Techniques to remove the blog title from occuring in each post/article/page title in blogspot.com blogs.

During registering a blog with blogspot.com we need to give it a title. This title is the blog/website title. It's ok and good thing to have a title for your website or blog. But the title is not expected to be a prefix of any other page. The title should only be for the home page and not for other pages usually have a title. If other pages lack the title then that page show the blog title or the website title. But blogspot.com's programmers won't understand it. They have programmed the blogspot such that on every page, whatever the type of the page be, the blog/site title is added at the beginning of that page title separated by a colon. For example, you have a blogspot blog that have the title of "Life is short, workload is heavy" and now you post an article titled "Apple has introduced a new iPod" then the title of the post will be "Life is short, workload is heavy : Apple has introduced a new iPod" but we don't expact that, neighter the readers do, not even the search engines. The readers and the search engines think that you are writing a series of articles and the name of the series is "Life is short, workload is heavy" and a article of that series is "Apple has introduced a new iPod" (ha ha!). Could you think how ridiculous that is! Such irrelevant combination of the blog title does too much misdeed. It reduces opportunity of showing your blog more in search engine results when people are searching about what you have written in the post/article title. But there is no setting for changing such stupid behaviour of blogspot. So, I have invented a new trick for forcing the stupid blogspot to show only the article/post title for article/post pages.

HOW TO FORCE BLOGSPOT TO SHOW ONLY POST TITLES FOR POSTS WITHOUT THE BLOG TITLE.

Go to the setting page of your blogspot blog. Dashboard >> Settings >> Basic. Now you can see an editable text box named 'Title' that contains your blog title. Replace the text with a star "*" character. You are done after pressing the 'Save Settings' button. But, Hey you can do more: Now in the 'Description' box below 'Title' put the previous title you gave to the blog or you like to give in the very first line in upper case letters - this would be like a subtitle of the blog. And you should also describe your blog's purpose or contents or slogan in the 'Description' box to behave that like meta tags for better SEO.

Why to use the star "*" mark.

Hey you can use whatever character you want except white space characters (white space, horizontal tab etc.) in the title - actually you can use anything. Your purpose is not to show blog title in post titles. But blogspot won't allow you to use empty blog title. So you can fill that with a single letter but a letter also mess up the title often. For example you used "Q" then it would be thought the post is a question or answer to a question (if your blog is a question answer blog then you can use that). You should use a sign like +, @, $, &, etc. But they have almost no meaning. But a stat '*' means importance. When blogspot put that star mark before posts the search engines and readers would think that the article/post is a star marked one, an important one. So, isn't it better to use the star mark?

Display Post Title Before Blog Title in Blogger.

Like many other sites (e.g. Wikipedia) you can wish to display the article/post/page title first and then the blog/website title. To do that on blogger you need to edit the template xml and need to use , tags of the blogspot template. I don't want to describe that here because Dharshin's Blog has already described that. Go here for reading that.
